“There was no breeze that evening, but the trees whispered in the voices of girls…” Red only dreams of escaping her abusive home in her Silvanian village until a mysterious young woman invites her to join her coven. Just as she begins to seize her autonomy back by way of witchcraft, her devious father decides to sacrifice her to the Wolf–a legendary creature that has haunted their town for over four hundred years. Refusing to be a pawn in her father’s plan, Red uses her newfound strength and takes control of her destiny. Instead of succumbing to her fate, she wields it, and in the process, she unearths the true history of the Wolf, and the man he once was.
Robin's Review: Prepare to be captivated by the first book in The Blood Bound Series, Blood Coven. In this thrilling and enthralling story, the Year of the Curse unfolds through Matthias's perspective, taking us back 400 years before the events of The Year of the Moon. We witness the life of Rose, aka Red, through her own eyes, as she battles the supernatural forces that threaten her very existence.
With a unique twist on the fairy tale genre, this book kept me on the edge of my seat, as love, danger, and the supernatural collided. From the very first page to the last, I wasn’t sure where this story was going so much so that I wasn’t able to put it down. I stayed up all night turning the pages enthralled by this story. I know, book hangover. Geez. I am anxiously awaiting the next book and boy can it not come soon enough.
I recommend Blood Coven as a must-read for fans of fairy tale retellings and anyone seeking an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable read.
