When a ship of foreigners crashes along the coast, everyone but Naña is wary of their inexplicable arrival. While others are suspicious and fearful, Naña is curious and even helpful, especially when one of the outsiders becomes gravely ill. But her goodwill might be a fatal flaw that puts the entire island in jeopardy.
Robin's Review: This book is set on a hidden island that is, in my opinion, the show's real star. The author does an excellent job of world-building in this book with the many interesting characters to meet., and there are so many interesting characters to meet. creating a rich and detailed landscape that feels real and alive. The characters are complex and interesting, and the plot kept me engaged throughout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

When the world’s balance of magical power takes a sudden nasty turn, a lonely 13-year-old orphan boy who knows nothing about magic is called upon to save the town he’s been desperately trying to escape.

Thirteen generations ago, Goff’s ancestor stopped a dark wizard from performing an ancient ritual to become invincible. Now, due to magical laws, Goff is the only one who can stop the present-day counterpart from performing the same ritual in Spraksville on Halloween night.

The Agency is recruiting brave souls to solve the murder of Sara Duncan. This mission has a high probability of vector contact. Survival is not guaranteed, and neither is your sanity. Welcome to the depths of shadow and madness.
Ghost Team spearheads the operation, led by Emmerich Steiner. What was meant to be an investigation leads them into a web of terror run by demonically possessed individuals and their willing servants. Em, along with his brothers Badrick and Fredrick, his fiancée and second in command, Callisto, and the rookies Calvin and Evan, battle the forces of darkness in a brutal life or death struggle.
Robin's Review: Guy Quintero has done a great job integrating a ton of creatures into this story without making it feel overdone. Nothing is off-limits in this debut novel. The world-building is rich and descriptive, without any unnecessary words. There are a lot of acronyms, but they're easily explained through the rookie's eyes.

The plot focuses on Ghost Team, a badass team of soldiers who work for the USA - Unholy Slaying Agency. It's their job to eliminate supernatural monsters that plague the world. There are Lycanthropes, Ghouls, Zombies, and more – Oh My!

It crosses many genres and has everything you could want in a book. I loved the little Easter eggs he writes into the story, like, Roanoke.

The next in the series is Book Two: The Cannibal Peaks. This title will be released on October 18, 2022.

Robin’s Review of Life After: The Line of Duty

In a scientific and spiritual sense, humanity has its world ordered

Life After: The Line of Duty

The Sixth Book in The Arising Series

Robin's Review of
Life After: The Line of Duty
by Bryan Way

In times of crisis, few bear a burden more demanding than local law enforcement, but even as a zombie apocalypse wreaks untold havoc, the undead are the least of their troubles.
Spread thin in the wake of a calamity, the remaining officers at the Broomall Police Department are faced with dwindling resources and manpower in a losing effort to contain the scourge. As state and government agencies fight to enforce a quarantine boundary prior to an impending evacuation, the station is mistakenly identified as a rescue center, forcing Lt. Arthur Gilchrist and a handful of cops to determine whether their new arrivals are trying to escape the mayhem or take advantage of it.Set during the events of Life After: The Arising, Life After: The Line of Duty examines the fortitude required to protect and serve the public in an unthinkable circumstance as well as what it means to maintain order when chaos becomes the status quo.
Robin's Review: I really liked this story. Bryan Way has come a long way no pun intended since I reviewed his first book in this series. His writing is tighter and more descriptive with deeper characters. He really nailed it with this one. Overall, this is a quick and satisfying read.

More is coming from this creative author with maybe another short story and a third novel sometime in the future. I can’t wait.

Books in this series:
Life After: The Arising (Book 1).
Life After: The Cemetery Plot (Short 1)
Life After: The Basement (Short 2).
Life After: The Phoenix (Short 3)
Life After: The Void (Book 2).

Life After: Zugzwang (Short 5)

Robin’s Review of In the Midst of Magic

In the Midst of Magic

 by Christian Cura

Rating: 5 out of 5.
In the Midst of Magic
by Christian Cura

Meet Kara Hartman, a photojournalist who is hiding her magic from the world.
Traumatized by her brother's death, she wants nothing more to do with magic. But just when she thought she could neglect her gift, it becomes apparent that the universe has other plans for Kara. When she discovers that an old foe has broken out of prison, hellbent on destroying her new life, Kara has no choice but to embrace the only power that can stop her.
Trigger Warnings: Violence is prevalent throughout the story, and there is occasional profanity. There is an explicit scene between two consenting adults, and references to bullying and cheating.
Robin's Review: This is so many genres combined that I’m not sure what to call it. It has action and adventure. It has magic and sorcery. It has romance and betrayal. It has murder and suspense. Finally, it has thrills and coming of age aspects. It is well written and fast paced with a hint of urgency to see what happens next. And there is always something happening. The world building is rich and descriptive, and the characters are fun and relatable.
All in all, a very good read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Urban Fantasy reads.
