The Undertaker's Daughter: A Novel of Supernatural Horror
by John James Minster

Don’t play with dead things.
Anna Dingel is an introverted, socially inept 18-year-old raised in the family funeral home.
And for some reason, her classmate Timmy—the one in the band—likes her too.
After a makeover from her best friend Naomi, Anna breaks away to see him perform live, but the leader of a bad school clique attempts to assault Anna in the parking lot. Once the leader is released from jail, so begins an ever-widening maelstrom of cruel retribution, turning Anna and Timmy’s summer of love into a nightmare.
Robin's Review: This is a creepy tale about Anna who is a young adult leading a sheltered life as the Undertaker’s Daughter. It could be called a coming-of-age story but for the dark themes.

I enjoyed this story in part because it is set in my home state, Pennsylvania, but also because it is well-written, enjoyable, and fresh. The plot is well thought out, and full of twisty turns with so much clever detail, or should I say research that I could not put it down. It follows the main character, Anna and her friends Naomi, and Timmy. They go through some nasty times with some vengeful bullies out for some pay back. Things get dark when an evil force is awakened, and lots of people end up dead. It has a complete and satisfying end to the story. Well done John James Minster, I really loved this book and highly recommend it to lovers of all genres.

My favorite line is used more than once: “That’s a TP, not MP. Their problem, not mine.”
It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this entertaining story.

Deal With Toxic Family Members: 7 Survival Secrets For Adult People To Set Positive Boundaries In Relationships With Parents, Siblings, And Relatives Within Five Weeks Without Cutting Ties
by Lucca Zeni
Have you ever wondered why you feel exhausted and frustrated when gathering with certain family members?

Rating: 5 out of 5.
Robin's Review: This book provides useful information about toxic family members and the behaviors or patterns you might see in yourself or your family members. It shows you how to acknowledge your possible triggers and emotions and how to deal with them. It also covers whether you should sever ties with the toxic person or family member and, if you can’t, what you can do to minimize their effect on you.
I found this book both interesting and helpful and highly recommend it.
Here are some thought provoking lines:
“Just like me, have you ever felt like you are the family’s “different one”? Do you have the impression that you’re not anything like other family members? It’s most likely because you are different from them, and there’s nothing wrong with it. However, when dealing with toxic people, it’s crucial to remember that you can’t change them; thus, it’s best not to push them too much. Instead, save your energy for something less stressful.”

Difficult Relationships In The Workplace: Manage Diversity And Politics, Improve Your Resilience And Strength Effectively, Gain Emotional Intelligence, And Prevent Burnout
by Lucca Zeni

Workplace toxicity is more than having a bad day at work or not getting along with your colleagues. Harmful behaviors get in the way of your performance. Some relationships can make you feel psychologically distressed, physically exhausted, or mentally depleted.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
Robin's Review:I wish I had this book years ago. This book goes over what is toxicity in the workplace, but it doesn’t stop there and leave you hanging. Instead, it gives you solid information into the some of the reasons a person might be toxic and how not to get drawn into their negative behaviors. It defines the seven personality types that you might come across in your job and how to work with them. It then dives into people’s perception of you and how you might go about changing it or not even trying. It talks about boundaries and how to set them. This is not a book of pointing fingers but teaches us we are all human with flaws and needs. I found this book both interesting and informative, and I'll definitely read his other book on toxic family members.

Revelations: The Ancient Ones Trilogy
Book 3 of 3: The Ancient Ones Trilogy
by Cassandra L. Thompson
Back for the final installment, a freshly revived David and the rest of the immortal vampyres return to the place it all began: Africa.
As they continue to fend off Discordia’s attacks, the close proximity of the reincarnated gods forces them to discover more about their shared pasts than ever before.
Joined by new gods, and some long forgotten, the Ancient Ones must find a way to heal old wounds and reconcile their pasts, or risk the ruin of all. Another volume of adventure, tragedy, and love, the third book in The Ancient Ones Trilogy brings to a close the tale as old as time itself, with one final bite.
Robin's Review: The Ancient Ones Trilogy ends with a huge sigh from me with this being the last book in this series. I fell in love with this series from the start and have loved each book waiting with impatience for the next one to be released. And each time I was not disappointed, sleepy with a book hangover but so not disappointed.
I was super excited to see what happens next with some of my favorite characters and of course stayed up all night just to find out. This series has a plot like no other book I've read before. It's so engrossing and imaginative. The world building felt so real that I wanted to live in their world if you know what I mean. The characters are so well-written that you can’t help becoming invested in them.
This is a fascinating story that blends folklore and mythology perfectly. It could definitely be considered a classic. If you're looking for a beautifully written story to keep you up at night, this is a must-read.

Western Australia. Clarisse Garcia is ready to return stronger than ever. With her husband by her side, the plucky spirit hunter is back on familiar territory with an assignment for Benedictine monks. And now she’s out to vanquish whatever evil is plaguing the monastic village that caused orphans to mysteriously die.
Robin's Review: The Charterhouse of Evil is a suspenseful read that hooked me from start to finish. It's a fast-paced scary read with quite a few big twists that had me turning the pages as fast as I could to get to the book's ending. I highly recommend this series. It never disappoints.

The Agency is recruiting brave souls to solve the murder of Sara Duncan. This mission has a high probability of vector contact. Survival is not guaranteed, and neither is your sanity. Welcome to the depths of shadow and madness.
Ghost Team spearheads the operation, led by Emmerich Steiner. What was meant to be an investigation leads them into a web of terror run by demonically possessed individuals and their willing servants. Em, along with his brothers Badrick and Fredrick, his fiancée and second in command, Callisto, and the rookies Calvin and Evan, battle the forces of darkness in a brutal life or death struggle.
Robin's Review: Guy Quintero has done a great job integrating a ton of creatures into this story without making it feel overdone. Nothing is off-limits in this debut novel. The world-building is rich and descriptive, without any unnecessary words. There are a lot of acronyms, but they're easily explained through the rookie's eyes.

The plot focuses on Ghost Team, a badass team of soldiers who work for the USA - Unholy Slaying Agency. It's their job to eliminate supernatural monsters that plague the world. There are Lycanthropes, Ghouls, Zombies, and more – Oh My!

It crosses many genres and has everything you could want in a book. I loved the little Easter eggs he writes into the story, like, Roanoke.

The next in the series is Book Two: The Cannibal Peaks. This title will be released on October 18, 2022.
