Flower of Memory: An Amaranth Prequel
by David M. Snow
An underwater ark that shelters the last remaining survivors. A young doctor tormented by his past. A mysterious power that could drive them into madness.
A cataclysmic Flood has forced the survivors to retreat into an intergenerational ark, secluded from the world they have always known. But the wait is insufferable in the abyss of the Great Ocean. More than a century, heavy with silence, has passed.
The surface is but a timeworn dream. A forgotten memory.
But Skyler Goldberg is not ready to give up. Even if it means losing everything.
Can a single man show the Archeans the path to redemption in a world abandoned by its creator?
Flower of Memory is the prequel of the dystopian science-fiction series Amaranth. Fans of the TV series The 100 and the Snowpiercer will enjoy every page!
Robin's Review: This is such a freaking cool story. It's a refreshing change to the science fiction/post-apocalyptic genre. I loved every part of it, the plot, the world building, the characters, and the writing. It was a great read. I highly recommend this book.

Robin's Review ofLife After: The Line of Duty
by Bryan Way
In times of crisis, few bear a burden more demanding than local law enforcement, but even as a zombie apocalypse wreaks untold havoc, the undead are the least of their troubles.
Spread thin in the wake of a calamity, the remaining officers at the Broomall Police Department are faced with dwindling resources and manpower in a losing effort to contain the scourge. As state and government agencies fight to enforce a quarantine boundary prior to an impending evacuation, the station is mistakenly identified as a rescue center, forcing Lt. Arthur Gilchrist and a handful of cops to determine whether their new arrivals are trying to escape the mayhem or take advantage of it.Set during the events of Life After: The Arising, Life After: The Line of Duty examines the fortitude required to protect and serve the public in an unthinkable circumstance as well as what it means to maintain order when chaos becomes the status quo.
Robin's Review: I really liked this story. Bryan Way has come a long way no pun intended since I reviewed his first book in this series. His writing is tighter and more descriptive with deeper characters. He really nailed it with this one. Overall, this is a quick and satisfying read.
More is coming from this creative author with maybe another short story and a third novel sometime in the future. I can’t wait.
Books in this series:
Life After: The Arising (Book 1).
Life After: The Cemetery Plot (Short 1)
Life After: The Basement (Short 2).
Life After: The Phoenix (Short 3)
Life After: The Void (Book 2).
Life After: The Maze (Short 4)

It Is What It Is, Because It Never Was And What Never Was Can Never Be
by Ronnell Beaty
This book is based on the first part of my life written in the form of poetry.
My poetry has feelings that are relatable, from the comfortable pleasures of a homemade meal, to the loneliness that arises when one feels like they don't fit in the world around them.
And the challenges that I have faced in my teenage years, the achievements I have made in early adulthood, and the unique situations I have faced on my walk to becoming an author.
I hope this new writing style of poetry excites, uplifts, and encourages you to do what you know is right.
Robin's Review: A compelling and unforgettable book that has a beautiful collection of poems. These short poems were filled with complex emotions, lessons learned and deep messages. This was an interesting read that provoked some inner thinking. Highly recommend.

Ten Years Goneby HP Newquist
Every November for nearly a decade, a body has been found hanging from a tree outside the town of Kerrville. As the tenth year approaches, the killer leaves clues that indicate there will only be one more murder. A reality show and its celebrity host decide that this last murder could be the ratings they've always wanted--and they are determined to find the murderer before the police do. But the police--and the killer--think that is a very, very bad idea.
Robin's Review: This was a creepy tale centered on murder that happens every year for the past 10 years and boy did it have some twisty turns. The characters were well thought out, although some were unlikeable at times. I really enjoyed this well written story, it was easy to read and has an interesting and entertaining plot. I will look for more of H P Newquist to add to my “want to read” list. I highly recommend this book.

Run from the Dead: Book 3
A Zombie Apocalypse
by Joanne Nundy
Are there worse things to run from than the dead? Amy knows all too well about the evil that lurks behind closed doors and not just the flesh-eating kind.
Kidnapped and traumatised by her ordeal, she is picked up by a group of survivors when she escapes. Estranged couple, Steve, and Anna are no longer fighting amongst themselves but have a common enemy fighting the dead. In this crumbled civilisation, they are accustomed to helping those in need, but helping strangers isn’t always the safest option. They are all realising there are worse monsters out there. Steve can fight the dead. But when the living becomes more of a problem, he must learn to overcome past traumas to protect his ever-growing family. How much do good people need to battle just to stay alive?
My Review: Wow! This was the third installment about a zombie apocalypse, but the real monsters were the people. It was darker than her previous books but maybe that had to do with the “monsters”.
Fast paced and a quick read made this continuation of this series a perfect book. Love love love this author.

Run from the Dead: Book 2:
A Zombie Apocalypse
by Joanne Nundy
When the dead come running, which way do you turn?
Blood flows in the streets as the undead tear limbs and flesh from the living in the city of Hull. A viral rage is unleashed, hitting the UK faster than it can be contained.
On the brink of losing everything, Marcus runs through the housing estates now occupied by the rising dead. He searches for his family whilst learning how to fight the flesh hungry beasts, collecting lost souls along the way.
Christina, a single nurse, hopes her unborn child stays inside her until this madness can be dealt with. Forming new alliances can bring surprises in many forms, proving the world can be shocking for even the most hardened of people. A zombie apocalypse isn’t the only thing that can take you by surprise.
The cruel times now thrust upon those still living separate the good from the bad. Some can be trusted with your life and others cannot.
But in a world where the dead have risen, can anyone survive this unchanged?
Robin's Review: Once again Joanne Nundy knocked it out of the ballpark. Grand Slam Baby! I really loved this cozy zombie apocalypse story. The plot was well written, exciting, and full of action. It was easy to read and fast paced. I finished it in one late night. The characters were so much more complex but fun and relatable. Add in a snarky teenager with an attitude and you got real life.
It broke my heart when some of them died. I must admit I cried over them. Joanne Nundy is so talented, intertwining the two books and doing it flawlessly. It did end with a to be continued but the next book is coming soon. Not soon enough if you ask me. Just kidding. I will wait patiently for the next book. I do hope these books turn into a long series. Wink wink.

“So, let me get this straight… you seem to be running around during a zombie apocalypse, rescuing, and collecting people along the way. Mostly women, from what I can tell.” She narrowed her eyes at him Shit, that sounds kind of bad. Marcus rubbed at the back of his neck and said, “Er, kind of…”
“Huh. Ok, then.” Marcus stared back at Mel. “There’s no way you’re fourteen. It just can’t be so.” “Why? Because I’m smarter than you already?”

What happens when our dreams and reality begin to blur together?
Serena Indigo has the perfect life. A handsome husband, a beautiful daughter, a gated home, and a rewarding career as a physician, specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She’s helped hundreds of people complete their families, which means all that more to her considering the lengths she went through for her own child. She even has a private practice with her best friend, Parker Sully, who is easy on the eyes and kinder on the soul. Sure, she sets herself to extremely high standards and is obsessed with perfection—which triggers a darkness of her own—but she’s managed to keep it under control.
She’s always in control.
When suspicious things start to unravel, Serena begins to lose control over the perfection she thrives off of. Her husband breaks the vows he promised her, her neighbors aren’t the sweet family next door, and her perfect life seems more like the perfect lie. Her world crumbles in front of her eyes as she tries to piece it all together, but what happens when we look into our reflection and the pain of our past haunts our present?
After all, you can’t piece together a broken mirror and expect to see the same reflection….
Finally, there are some trigger warnings. This is a psychological thriller with themes of: child loss, self-inflicted harm, infertility, toxic relationships, mental health issues such as anxiety are also present. I poured my heart and soul into this story and hope you enjoy it as much as I did telling it.
Robin's Review: Wow just wow. This was an extraordinary story. It was so well written with a plot that had twisty turns. The characters were outstanding and thoroughly written. It was easy to read and fast paced. No part of the book was useless or wasteful. It meshed cohesively and was a real page turner, as evidence of me staying up all night to finish it in one sitting. A must read for most genres. This is Monica Arya’s first psychological thriller and she nailed it. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

Vancouver Vengeance: The McKinley Chronicles 2
by John Keillor
After a vicious series of battles, Alberta defeats an overseas aggressor. Abandoned combatants are to be repatriated, but who made their invasion possible?
Calgary's best young warrior's in charge of seeing them away. In seaside Vancouver, a Toronto agent assists him in searching for traitors. the two patriots discover a post-apocalyptic city, divided, where nothing is as it seems.
Zach McKinley, senior security operator and son to soon to be Mayor of Winnipeg, Abraham McKinley, is tasked with moving fifteen hundred unarmed Chinese soldier detainees, progressive nationalist, to Vancouver 12 hours away. Once there, the Vancouver City Council contracted “fishing magnate” Andre Keats to ferry the “progs” back to Vladivostok.
Seems like an easy mission but Zach walks into a political hot mess in Vancouver where there is a union war with businesses that are in support of the city council and want exclusivity on their trades. Progressive nationalists want to replace the current mayors of the four cities and create New Canada, with them in charge. So, there is little “friction fires” everywhere. Add in Rosemary Phillips, the mayor’s girl, is kidnapped by someone with Vancouver connections and Zach has his hands full.
Robin's Review:
Sometimes the dialogue was confusing to figure out who was speaking but it had a good plot. The main characters were thoroughly explained, and I enjoyed their storylines. I believe this is being called a western apocalyptic story and I would have to agree with its action, adventure, and gunslingers its sure to please.
Favorites:
"Hold My Beer" line

“I’m right here,” said the cowboy.
“He is, Mr. Star.”
“Council assistants waited at intersections in pairs, offering free advice or cannabis, telling smokers the VCC loved them.
