The mythical Island of Mayatte was never meant to be discovered by anyone, and its natives are about to find out why...
When a ship of foreigners crashes along the coast, everyone but Naña is wary of their inexplicable arrival. While others are suspicious and fearful, Naña is curious and even helpful, especially when one of the outsiders becomes gravely ill. But her goodwill might be a fatal flaw that puts the entire island in jeopardy.
Robin's Review: This book is set on a hidden island that is, in my opinion, the show's real star. The author does an excellent job of world-building in this book with the many interesting characters to meet., and there are so many interesting characters to meet. creating a rich and detailed landscape that feels real and alive. The characters are complex and interesting, and the plot kept me engaged throughout. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.

It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this entertaining story.

Robin's Review: This book was such a joy to read with it’s beautifully crafted story. I fell in love with it. The world building was fantastic and imaginative. It was so well written that I felt like I was there going through all these adventures and battles with the characters. And the characters oh my were so interesting and real. I have my favorite but I won’t tell. It was well written and flowed nicely by keeping you guessing and the incessant urge to read just one more chapter. I have to say this was an entertaining story. It had everything you could want in a story action, suspense, twisty turns and one big cliff hanger. Well done Mr. Hilliard. I enthusiastically recommend this book.

Dragons in the Clouds
by David Blair

Dragons in the Clouds is an epic adventure that takes place during a time when Dragons were alive and freely roamed the land. The people during this time were getting eaten by a vicious species of Dragons. The ruling King finally orders the total annihilation of all living dragons. A powerful wizard, named Merlinius, who is a friend to the king, does not agree with the King's order, for Merlinius knows all Dragons are not what they seem. So, he does what he must to protect a family of Dragons that he had befriended. And to protect his Dragon friends, Merlinius performs the spell of weightlessness and tells the Dragons to fly up and to hide in the cover of the Clouds. He then gives the Dragons strict instruction to live within the clouds and to only come down at night to eat. An apprentice to the wizard who has grandeur of his own has a plan for Dragons that he has hidden deep within a mountain cavern. Now enters a young boy, who had also befriended a dragon, though a very young one, suddenly find themselves caught between the Kings order and a battle that has begun between two species of Dragons. A battle that would determine control of the skies above the Kingdom of Albian. This Apprentice's plan has consequences that may bring the Kingdom and perhaps the very world we live in today to a devastating end.
Robin's Review:

This a beautifully written story with wonderfully simple world building and truly lovable characters. The plot was understandable and interesting. The characters were charming and brilliant. The ending was surprisingly fulfilling.

I loved everything about this book especially the moral lessons hidden in it. It was easy to read and so much fun. It gave me such a feel-good feeling all day long. I highly recommend this book for all ages. What a joy to read. Thank you David Blair.

Chronicles of the Undead
by A.F. Stewart

Three generations bound together under a horrifying family secret.
Vampires exist.
Inside the personal journals of the Harrington family, watch a dark and dangerous odyssey unfold. Three members of this tormented family, Samuel, his son Edmund, and Edmund's daughter Charlotte, must come to terms with evil. Set during the 18th and 19th century in London, England, this family must struggle against horror as their lives intersect with supernatural forces. As two intriguing vampires befriend, manipulate, and play with all three souls, altering their lives forever.
Their fears, private confidences and weaknesses are revealed as one selfish act ends in horrific tragedy, with far-reaching consequences. Who succumbs to the seduction and danger of the vampire? Who grapples to combat the evil influence that permeates their lives? Find out in Chronicles of the Undead.
My Review:

This story is told through diary entries of:
Samuel Harrington, Father, 1793-1795, London, England
Edmund Harrington, Son, 1795-1797, London, England
Charlotte Harrington, Daughter, 1825-1826, London, England
…about the involvement of Henri Forain, and the cousin, Eleanor de Burgh.

This was an easy and quick read with a sinister link between these family members and vampires. As diary entries it would seem far removed but it wasn’t. I felt the emotions the writer felt while they put their information down in the diary.
Trigger warnings:
Infidelity, Domestic Violence, Prostitution, Death, Sacrifice

My name is Kyara, and I am a banshee.

My job? Bringing the dead to the other side.

I expected to become a healer...
…But fate bestowed me with a curse.

Cause, yeah. Being a Banshee is a curse.
I'm hated by my friends and family, and I'm kind of stuck in the Realm of Silver, the last place I want to be. But if I don't accept my job and take souls to their next stop, well, things will get bad fast. The wicked ones will drown the world in darkness, while the rest. I don’t even want to know.

What I really want is to gather the strength I need to become who I want to be.
Is it even possible to do my job with all this pressure from... everybody?

Prepare for an epic adventure!

My Review:
Kyara comes into her powers after turning sixteen. Thinking she was to become a healer, only to find out that she is something else is really hard on her and her relationships. This is really a fantastic coming of age story in a dystopian world setting. I really felt for Kyara as a character. To be different, bullied, and shunned is difficult to say the least. She had amazing growth and maturity that made this story a great read.
