Goddess of Everything: A Blood-Curdling Tale of Truth, Freedom, and Love
by Paul DeBlassie III

A blood-curdling tale of a Mother's affection for her son, and her son's struggle for truth, freedom, and love.
In the mystic land of Aztlan del Norte, a realm of supernatural happenings and unexpected turns of fate, psychiatric healer Gabriél de LaTierra encounters evil within the Orphanage of the Holy Innocents. Children disappear for reasons kept secret by Mother Juana de la Cruz, Superior of the Nunnery and the Orphanage.
Robin's Review: This book is full of twisty turns that kept me guessing the whole way through. It's got a little bit of everything, including suspense, thriller, mystery, supernatural, horror, and maybe even folklore. The characters are well-written and stirred up a lot of emotion in me. I was rooting for some and swearing at others. The main character, Gabriele, sees many horrific acts at the Orphanage of Holy Saints, where children go missing. His mother happens to be Mother Superior and a zealot. So are the other nuns. This story is about good versus evil, with a theme that seems crazy but also plausible. I will let you decide.

Northern Quartet is set in 2030, after the world's been a post-apocalyptic mess for eleven years.
After The Fall

This collection of short stories updates readers on the development of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal, with many recurring characters from the Shattered North series.
This is five years after Four Cities.
In Vancouver, Henry returns to seek the mystery girl.
In Calgary, Abe flies out to confront American marauders.
In Toronto, Martin helps the Chevy Brothers deal with giant rodents.
In Montreal, Matilda arrives in a stolen plane to warn Alexi.
Robin's Review: This is a really great way to wrap up The Shattered North series. You get a satisfying conclusion to The Four Cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. And then this book sets up the author's next book series, The McKinley Chronicles, which has already been released. This series is so full of action and suspense that I'm going to have to read it again to see what I might have missed the first time. I would definitely recommend both of these book series by this author.

Four Cities features Lucy in a new, post-apocalyptic reality after the flash resets the planet. Nations are gone as city states rise. Their mayors can be wild.
Mad idealists plot to overthrow them as wisest human negotiates with the extraterrestrials who caused this catastrophe for the survival of our species.

This is the third book in The Shattered North series with one more before this series closes out.
Robin's Review: A dystopian action and adventure story with complex, likable characters (well, some of them are). This story is based on four cities and their government after an apocalyptic event called the flash. Add action and adventure, bad politics, and our favorite character, Lucy, and you've got a story worth reading.

Robin's Review: Assassin's Secret is a short story or possibly a novella. Since it is so short, I will not go into the details. However, it was a quick and easy read with action and adventure. The characters are well-written and exciting. The plot was entertaining and different from John Keillor's previous books. I see this becoming a long series with many books, and I look forward to it.

Welcome to the Crescent Motel, a waypoint in a post-apocalyptic no man's land.
At the helm are Darrell, the middle-aged mustachioed manager, and his danger-sniffing dog Bruno. When he and the motel's housekeeper, Nance, discover one of the guests dead, they decide to keep the body under wraps until they root out the killer. But before they have a chance, two mysterious men appear, looking for answers. When the first body disappears and is replaced by another, Darrell and Nance realize they're in over their heads.
Robin's Review: This is the first book in this series and I can’t wait for next one. It is a freaky and fun read centered around a hotel and it’s guests in a post-apocalyptic world. A well written and easy to read short story with a mystery to solve. It was quite entertaining and a different type of genre for A.R. Shaw but definitely worth the read. I highly recommend.

The Agency is recruiting brave souls to solve the murder of Sara Duncan. This mission has a high probability of vector contact. Survival is not guaranteed, and neither is your sanity. Welcome to the depths of shadow and madness.
Ghost Team spearheads the operation, led by Emmerich Steiner. What was meant to be an investigation leads them into a web of terror run by demonically possessed individuals and their willing servants. Em, along with his brothers Badrick and Fredrick, his fiancée and second in command, Callisto, and the rookies Calvin and Evan, battle the forces of darkness in a brutal life or death struggle.
Robin's Review: Guy Quintero has done a great job integrating a ton of creatures into this story without making it feel overdone. Nothing is off-limits in this debut novel. The world-building is rich and descriptive, without any unnecessary words. There are a lot of acronyms, but they're easily explained through the rookie's eyes.

The plot focuses on Ghost Team, a badass team of soldiers who work for the USA - Unholy Slaying Agency. It's their job to eliminate supernatural monsters that plague the world. There are Lycanthropes, Ghouls, Zombies, and more – Oh My!

It crosses many genres and has everything you could want in a book. I loved the little Easter eggs he writes into the story, like, Roanoke.

The next in the series is Book Two: The Cannibal Peaks. This title will be released on October 18, 2022.

Robin’s Review of Faceless

Faceless

 by J R White

Faceless
by JR White

The apocalypse wasn’t the end, not for those who survived.
Amidst the ruin of a crumbling world, Bash struggles to move on after the love of his life, Tempest, sacrificed herself to save him from the Inferus. When he discovers a blood-soaked note that could have only come from her, he begins to question whether she's actually dead. Fearing she’s been turned into one of the Faceless, a mindless slave to the Inferus, Bash is determined to uncover the truth and somehow, find a way to save her. The only problem is, there’s no known cure for the Faceless, save death.
Robin's Review: Because of floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters ravaging the planet and mutating pathogens with no cure humanity was almost wiped out. Then the aliens came and enslaved those that were left.

This was a multi genre story. It had action, drama, romance, dystopian and horror all wrapped up in a freaky package. The world building was described nicely to the point I was hot and itchy. The characters were complex and interesting. The plot was different and entertaining with it being post-apocalyptic and aliens thrown in. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author.

It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book from the author, that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this entertaining story.

Epic Line: “We kinda deserved it—the end of the world. Humans were killing the Earth, ignoring its calls of distress, and still demanding more. It was only a matter of time before something drastic happened.”

The Reliquiae:
meaning in Latin for survivors, remnants...The last of mankind.

Characters: Zachary, the appointed ‘Leader’ of the Reliquiae and his wife, Deja and their twins Hades and Tempest. Along with Bash and his German Shepard, Skull Crusher, and several others.

The Monsters:

Inferus: Aliens that have landed and enslaved humans.

Faceless: Are slaves to the aliens. They are humans with their faces erased by masks the color of bone.

Rabids: Creatures with thick scaly skin covered in sparse hair and sores stretched tight over every bone.

Robin’s Review of So Over the Undead (Zooey Zombie Book 2)

So Over the Undead (Zooey Zombie Book 2)

by Alex Apostole

Rating: 5 out of 5.

So Over the Undead
Book 2 of 2: Zooey Zombie

Zooey is back and she's learning how life is going to be for her now that she's Undead. There are laws to protect this new race of human and their rights, but she quickly realizes many don't want them to be able to go to school or work or even live in the same neighborhoods as regular people. As Zooey tries to piece her life back together she gets caught up in a social nightmare as the human race fights back against the Undead. Can Zooey stand up for her new race and be heard or will her voice fall on deaf ears? In light of recent attacks being blamed on the Undead reverting back to their zombie state, it's harder than ever to find support.
Robin's Review: Zooey Beckett is returning to Harvard University. She graduated in June of 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. And then the zombie apocalypse happened. Now she is re-enrolling for her graduate studies in Cognition, Brain, and Behavior Psychology, but as an “Undead” this time.

What is an “Undead” you may ask?

It’s a new race of human called the Undead, people who had been changed into zombies by the rampaging virus and then brought back to life by what the government deemed the cure, but it wasn’t a cure, more of a suppression of one’s inner zombie. She’ll receive the “cure” twice a week for the rest of her life.

As Zooey tries to integrate back into society she is met with quite a few obstacles, prejudice and racism are just the tip of the iceberg that she is up against. Even her longtime friends Elizabeth and Oliver who have stood by her throughout everything, before and after the apocalypse, just can’t understand what she feels, let alone what she has gone through and is going through.

This is what I like to call a “cozy” zombie apocalypse story, that means is that I could read it again and again it’s that entertaining. The world building is different and exciting because it is post-apocalyptic, I loved this, and the world is rebuilding but with a twist. One of my favorite ideas in the story were the NATIONWIDE Z-ALERTS. The characters were your average snarky young adults with some good one liners. This was such an enjoyable story with the same underlying issues as we have today. What a compelling read for zombie readers and lovers a like.

It was my pleasure to receive a free copy of this book but that does not in any way affect my opinions in this review of this amazing story.
