Robin's Review: Prepare to be pleasantly surprised! This story is jam-packed with creepy kinds of monsters, called Gaders and their parasites, and I can’t get enough of it. Our protagonist, Vin Montgomery, is a rebel leader who also happens to be the estranged wife of Jericho’s General Matthew Montgomery. Get ready to delve deep into the intriguing world of Jericho's cave system, fully developed and richly described to make you feel like you're right there. The levels of housing - civilian, military, and Molers - show a fascinatingly diverse society coexisting in the mountains. The backdrop for this thrilling tale is a military stronghold called Jericho, which mines iron ore for Northern America, but our hero is on a top-secret mission that’s been in the works for 10 long years. The world building in this story is truly captivating, with a central location in the form of a cave and tunnel system. The author’s descriptions are so vivid that you’ll feel like you’re right there alongside the characters. There are three levels of housing in Jericho: Civilian, Military, and Molers - a community of people who live hidden in the mines scattered throughout the mountains, and below the military and civilians. Now let’s talk about our characters. The military members in Jericho come in different levels of training, each with their own unique abilities. For example, once you reach Level 8, you get enhanced hearing; at Level 9, you get enhanced speed, and at Level 10, you get enhanced strength. After that you get a Super Soldier. Prepare to be enthralled by this masterfully crafted story, filled with adventure and intrigue. Trust me, it's a page-turner. I highly recommend this book. It is one of my favorites for this year. Favorite lines: “Do you think we are still human?” Matthew thought for a moment. “I think when we can no longer see the difference between good and evil, then we are no longer what we were before.” Trigger Warnings: Murder and death Self-harm Loss of pregnancy Rape
